A carrier-vetting tool for freight brokers
We replaced it with a 90-second identity check, a 0–100 VettaScore, and a dispatcher who can actually prove it's them. Real-time FMCSA data, continuous monitoring, no annual contract.
2.2M carriers · FMCSA-sourced · updated nightly · no account required to search

01 · Why this exists
The numbers below came from trade publications and public complaint databases, not a slide deck. Cite them however you like — they're the reason you're reading this page.
| Loss category | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cargo theft, reported losses | $223M | |
| Cargo theft, unreported (est.) | $500M – $1B | |
| Double-brokering losses (est.) | $100M+ | |
| Median cost per fraud incident | $187,500 | |
| Reported double-brokering complaints, vs. 2022 | +400% |
02 · Identity
Chameleon carriers don't fake a DOT number. They fake a person.
Any first-year fraudster can quote a legitimate MC number back to you. The crack in the door isn't the number — it's the person on the other end of the email chain who says they work there.
VettaVerify closes that crack. Before a broker can book a load with a carrier, the carrier's dispatcher has to confirm a one-time passcode sent to their FMCSA-registered email. The same address that sits on file at SAFER. If the person contacting you can't receive mail at that address, they don't get past the door.
Every identity check writes an audit trail with a timestamp, IP, and device fingerprint — the kind of paper trail that holds up when your insurance broker asks what happened last Tuesday.

03 · VettaScore
0-100 score + evidence grade. FMCSA-sourced. Updated nightly.
The VettaScore is a 0–100 safety rating built from the FMCSA inputs that actually matter: inspection history, violations, out-of-service events, crashes, authority changes, and insurance lapses. No black box. No proprietary social-media sentiment.
We show you the breakdown that produced the number — what helped, what hurt, and which signals are thin. Large fleets get a per-power-unit view so a 10,000-truck carrier doesn't look “riskier” than a 10-truck operation just because they drove more miles.
When a score moves, you get notified. When it crosses a threshold you care about — for example, a carrier you already work with slipping below 70 — we tell you immediately.
04 · Monitoring
Authority flips, insurance lapses, crash reports, OOS orders.
Most brokerages vet a carrier once and call it done. VettaVerify doesn't. Every night we re-pull FMCSA data for every carrier in your pool. If something changes — authority revoked, insurance lapsed, a new OOS order — you hear about it before the next dispatcher calls asking for a tender.
You can set thresholds per carrier or per lane. You can mute ones you already trust. And every alert links back to the exact FMCSA record that tripped it, so your ops lead can verify without leaving the page.

05 · How it works
Search 2.2 million FMCSA carriers by DOT, MC, legal name, or state. See authority, insurance, safety history, and their live VettaScore — no account required.
When you’re ready to book, send a one-click identity request. The carrier’s dispatcher confirms a passcode sent to their FMCSA-registered email. You see a verified badge, timestamp, and audit trail.
Add them to your pool. We re-pull FMCSA data nightly and alert you when authority, insurance, inspections, or crashes change. Mute, set thresholds, or escalate — your call.
06 · Our commitments
Unlike other platforms in this space, we have bright lines.
01
Carriers never pay.
Revenue comes from brokers who choose to subscribe. Carriers never pay us, and they never pay for any feature that affects how brokers see them.
02
Brokers don't upload ID.
Your active MC number, surety bond, and FMCSA authority already prove who you are. We verify what already exists. No selfies, no driver license scans.
03
Your data stays yours.
Private notes, trust scores, and relationships are never sold, aggregated, or exposed. FMCSA data is public. What you build on top of it is yours.
Run your next one through it
If you like it, we have a paid plan. If you don't, you just saved yourself a phone call. Either way, stop vetting blind.
