Acceptable Use Policy

Rules for using VettaVerify

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the VettaVerify platform and services (the "Service") operated by VETTA VERIFY LLC. This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.

1. Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in fraud, identity theft, impersonation, or other deceptive practices involving carriers, brokers, drivers, or business entities
  • Facilitate or participate in double-brokering, load theft, cargo theft, or other freight fraud schemes
  • Access or attempt to access accounts, data, APIs, or systems without authorization
  • Interfere with, disrupt, disable, or degrade the Service, infrastructure, or security controls
  • Transmit malware, malicious code, or content intended to compromise users or systems
  • Violate applicable law, regulation, court order, or government request
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse other users

2. API and System Abuse

To maintain security and availability for all users, you must not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or automation to access the Service without our prior written consent
  • Bypass or attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, usage controls, or technical safeguards
  • Generate excessive load, denial-of-service behavior, or abusive request patterns
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive source code from the Service except where prohibited by law
  • Access the Service through interfaces other than those we make available

3. Data Usage Restrictions

Data accessed through the Service is provided for legitimate business purposes related to carrier vetting and freight operations. You agree not to:

  • Resell, redistribute, repackage, or commercially exploit FMCSA data or other carrier data obtained through the Service
  • Build or train competing products, datasets, or models using Service outputs or extracted data
  • Use Service data for surveillance, unrelated marketing lists, or competitive intelligence unrelated to freight operations
  • Share bulk exports outside your organization without our prior written consent
  • Remove, obscure, or alter attribution, source context, or risk disclosures associated with data

4. User-Generated Content Standards

When posting notes, comments, or other content in the Service, your content must not:

  • Include defamatory, knowingly false, or misleading statements about persons or businesses
  • Include discriminatory or hateful content based on protected characteristics
  • Include obscene, threatening, or harassing language
  • Violate privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other third-party rights

5. Broker and Carrier Obligations

If you use the Service as a carrier or broker, you also agree that:

  • Registration and verification submissions must be accurate and not misleading
  • You will not use another entity's DOT/MC identifiers or misrepresent authority status
  • You will not use SMS/email OTP workflows, phone checks, or identity controls to evade fraud controls
  • You will keep profile, contact, and operational information reasonably current
  • Broker users will not use automated indicators (including VettaScore and phone line-type signals) as the sole basis for unlawful discriminatory decisions

6. ELD and Location Data Use

If you access ELD, vehicle, or location data, you must comply with all applicable law and these restrictions:

  • Use location and driver data only for legitimate freight operations and shipment execution
  • Do not use ELD data for stalking, personal surveillance, or unrelated monitoring
  • Do not retain, export, or redistribute bulk location history without authorization
  • Respect carrier consent choices and revocations for data-sharing access

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of violations of this AUP, report them to legal@vettaverify.com. Include relevant account identifiers, dates, and supporting context where available.

8. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations and take action at our discretion, including warnings, temporary restrictions, suspension, termination, data-access limits, or legal action.

For serious or repeat violations, we may immediately suspend access. Where appropriate, you may request a review by contacting legal@vettaverify.com within 14 days of notice.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
